The Old St. Angela Inn is a cozy Bed and Breakfast located in Pacific Grove, CA overlooking the natural beauty of the Monterey Bay. It was born a country home in 1910, converted to a rectory, and then a convent in 1920. Within this turn-of-the-century, shingle-style home are rooms of distinctive individuality and warmth, designed to provide comfort and serenity. Each of our nine guest rooms have private baths and are decorated in the craftsman style of the original house. Antiques, teddy bears, and other delights provide a relaxing and informal feel to this pied-à-terre. A from-scratch breakfast, "afternoon tea" with wine, coffee, tea and home-baked cookies are all part of the experience at the inn.
This is the uber bnb that Peter and Nance aspire to! Teddy bear on bed? Check. One squeaky board in the floor? Check. Plentiful cookies? Check! In all seriousness though this is a great place, perfect location between downtown pacific grove and cannery row, comfy rooms, good food, no complaints!
We stayed here on our trip up the coast and definitely enjoyed our stay. We stayed mid-week and only one other couple were staying. That being said, my wife and I have a love of B&B’s and have stayed at them whenever possible. Sometimes what happens is when not many people are staying, they break out the oatmeal and pre-made supermarket fare. Not here! We were greeted with an extremely delicious, handmade croissant French toast, homemade cookies, and fresh everything. I applaud the effort. A++
Love this B&B!!! Beautiful, clean, well preserved Bed and Breakfast!!! Get the blue room with the view of the ocean (with the cream colored teddy bear). Plus the location is perfect, just 1 block away from the beach and a nice walking path. Food was great, the owners are SOO friendly and it really does feel like a home. A welcoming home. This place is definitely a nice and comfortable B&B!
This was our home base for our wedding in Pacific Grove. We did our ceremony in nearby Berwick Park, at “Cypress Grove,” and our reception at Fandango…. The court yard was perfect for our “first look” photos before the ceremony. I haven’t seen the pictures but I have a hunch they look great. The landscaping of the courtyard is really beautiful, and I even saw a humming bird.
My husband and I spent our fourth wedding anniversary here. We drove over and were offered an upgrade from one of the rooms off the garden (a lovely, cozy room) to the Whale Watch room, which is THE nicest room in the entire B&B. It has a balcony and a fireplace, and the best view of Monterey Bay. We spent a lot of time in the room, just watching the boats go by, listening to the waves and the bark of the seals. The first morning we were there, we were able to see a pod of dolphins feeding. Amazing.
The Old St Angela Inn and its owners will make you feel right at home. We stayed in the ‘Otter Cove’ room and loved it. Quaint decor and friendly people…. Overall it was a great experience. I would return to The Old St Angela Inn without checking out other B&B’s in the area. I loved everything about it.
The Old St Angela Inn is a fantastic bed & breakfast, and it should be at the top of your list of places to stay in all of Monterey Bay. The rooms are cozy and clean, service impeccable, and location is great, too…. We initially wanted to stay in Carmel, but after having spent time in the crowded tourist spot, we were delighted to have discovered this gem in Pacific Grove. I will highly recommend this inn to future travelers, and I hope to return soon myself.
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. Very cute place, the staff was really friendly and attentive. The breakfast was great, and the wine hour was fun. Unfortunately we could only stay one night so I will have to come back. I would never stay in a regular hotel in Monterey after finding this place, the experience doesn’t compare!
It was our first time to stay at a bed and breakfast and this one was awesome! The rooms were very clean with a nice decor and the garden was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They have afternoon tea with appetizers and sweets and their breakfast was delightful and delicious. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
